"Salzano and DigitasLBi copywriter Jose Ripol's submission was one of 392 entries in the cyber category for Young Lions, a competition that gives the next generation of industry superstars the chance to prove themselves during Cannes. Their idea was to create a socially driven campaign around Mother's Day featuring an orange rose as a symbol of the cause. Although it didn't win at Young Lions, the idea caught the attention of Every Mother Counts (EMC), a nonprofit organization founded by model Christy Turlington Burns that's dedicated to making pregnancy and childbirth safe for mothers around the world.
EMC invited the Digitas team to participate in a live pitch day in New York where EMC ultimately chose to partner with the agency, bringing the orange rose campaign to life and making the orange rose a universal symbol of safe motherhood." - Tim Nudd, AdWeek.
Commuting to work in NYC the morning of November 9th, 2016 felt like taking part in a funeral procession. But in the weeks that followed, people’s dread turned into a general call for active participation. There was a sudden need to be more vocal about the issues facing the country, to the point that “have you called your representatives?” became as common as asking about someone’s weekend plans. It was clear that people had the intention to demand that their elected leaders represent their views and values—but finding the time to make the call proved to be a hurdle. Until it hit us with a splash in the butt. Everyone spends a few idle minutes in the toilet each day, often going down a rabbit hole of Instagram stories or reading the backs of toiletry packages. But why not used those minutes to get shit done? So a group of us decided to bring our collective skills to the table and create a platform to help people become more regular about calling their members of congress and give them shit about the issues that matter most to them.
We’ve asked our customers what they think of their FiOS service and we know that 4 OUT OF 5 of them would recommend it. That’s a pretty staggering number, but we were curious to hear from the 5th person. Why weren’t they recommending us?
As it turns out - they were just having a bad day.
